Difference between Enterprise and Standard Version by install

Hello,

Any one knows how to find out the difference between Enterprise and Standardeditions of a particular SQL versionby seeing the file size (e.g. SQLSERVR.EXE file size) of the install? Is there any difference on the SQLSERVR.EXE file size for Enterprise and Standard editions of a particular SQL Version?

If we compare the Enterprise and Standard installs, do you know any additional files Enterprise edition installs? Or do you know whether SQLSERVR.EXE size varies with Enterprise and Standard editions?

Thanks

Thanks Abhishek, but let me repeat my question again......

For 2008, it is the same exe file. For 2005 it isn't. But it isan't practical to go on file size, since there are service packs, CUs and hotfixes released all the time. Just login to the instance and use the SERVERPROPERTY() function to determine edition (there are several interesting attributes to ask for).

Thanks Tibor for the information....

Do you know whether there are any difference in the install of Enterprise and Standard Editions of an SQL version? Since Enterprise edition has more features, I was thinking there must be more files (like dll, ocx, exes) in the Enterprise editions than Standard version. Right now I can scan the SQL servers on my network, but I don't have access to them and hence cannot execute any query. But I can scan for a particular file and find out that this one must be an Enterprise or otherwise it is a Standard version.

Do you have any idea on it? Appreciate your help....

Thanks

I don't know about possible files, so that is probably quite some detective work to be performed. I think your best bet here would be the registry. For instance, on my machine:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\Instance Names

Here you find your 2005 and 2008 instances. From there, you can search further:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10.SS2008I1\ConfigurationState
SQL_Engine_core_Inst is probably information of what features the edition supportes, etc. Or even simpler:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10.SS2008I1\Setup
