URL access lost in SSRS 2008, Why?

There were two functioning reporting services 2008, one from FEB 2008 CTP and the Other from SQL Server 2008 RC0.
Both were installed in native mode.

The Report Manager URL and Web Service URL were accessible for a couple of days.

Looks like there was an automatic Windows update on July 1.

The URL access capability is gone - the IE's Web Page not found error gets displayed.

Appreciate any help in this problem.

Thanks

Here are my observations.

I had installed Report Builder 2.0 on June 30 at which point I had created a settings restore point.

I restored it to a day previous to that and then I came back and restored the settings on July 2.

I was not expecting but the URL's were back.

I am back in the saddle again but I don't understand how I lost it in the first place (errors marked in red in my previous post). I did tryat that point thru' Configuration Tool to look at the current database it gave all the correct answers but URL access was not there.

Thanks all, it was Skype . Detected using sysinternals tcpview.

I have the same problems.

OS Windows Vista Ultimate. SQL Server 2008 RTM, default instance. The problem was occured just after installation.

Appreciate any help in this problem.

VALX  Friday, August 29, 2008 11:51 AM
Thinking back, it could have been the fact that I might not have had turned-off my Oracle XE working off the same port.

Jayaram Krishnaswamy  Saturday, August 30, 2008 2:16 PM

VALX, You might get this error if another application is trying to use the port RS uses (which by default is 80)

Please try changing the port to see if it works.

Neeraja Divakaruni  Tuesday, September 02, 2008 11:47 PM
As I mentioned previously it probably was a port contention problem.

Jayaram Krishnaswamy  Thursday, September 04, 2008 3:08 PM
Changing port helps, but it doesn't solve the problem. Does anybody know how to detect which application listens which port?

We just upgraded from 2005 to 2008. For me, it turned out to be the old virtual directories I had defined in IIS to access the report manager and server. Apparently RS no longer relies on IIS for these, so having them will create a port conflict and give many strange errors.
